Getting here & around

Siquijor is an island of the Philippines located in the Central Visayas between Cebu, Negros, Bohol and Mindanao. Its capital is the municipality also named Siquijor and for now, is the third smallest province in the country. On the map below you can see the exactly position of Siquijor island from different views. Just click on the tab you want and look at the red icon over the map.

To get the Island there are basically two ways, by sea or by air. Siquijor has 3 seaports and 1 small airport close to Siquijor City. At the moment, the most common and used option is the ferry. There are connections from Cebu City (Cebu island), Dumaguete (Negros island) or Tagbilaran (Bohol island) among others cities. To see the schedule just click on the seaport/airport icon where you're planning to depart (see the map below) or if you prefer, click here to download the pdf file provided by the Tourism Department of Siquijor.

In addition, we strongly recommend once you get the Philippines, double check the timetables directly in the seaports, any authorized travel agency, the ship companies websites or the local newspapers to know the latest schedules.

There are 3 kinds of public transport in Siquijor for now. The jeepney, the multicab and the tricycle.

Jeepneys are the cheapest way to get around but unfortunately there are no fixed schedule and just a few of them are running during all the day. Jeepneys go as soon as their cabin is completely full (or almost) and this in Siquijor, can take long time. There're two main routes departing from Siquijor going to Lazi and vice versa, one thru San Juan and the other one thru Enrique Villanueva, always following the national road along the coast (beautiful road!). You shouldn't pay more than a local because the jeepney drivers are mostly honest and nice people but keep on eye and watch when a filipino pay to the driver (just in case ;P).

The multicab and tricycles are the most common and easy way to get around the island. Siquijor is plenty of them, especially tricycles, so you don't have to go to any particular place, just go out to the main road and wait ;P Here you are the official rates approved by the Provincial Tourism Office on March 2012 (look the tables below) but these are only from the Siquijor Port. For other trips departing from different points you can use these rates as a reference. If you prefer, you can download the rates clicking on the links below.

JEEPNEY MULTICAB TRICYCLE

Another cool option is the motorbike renting to explore the island by yourself. There are some shops for that in the main towns or in some accommodations as well. Usually, the best rates are offered for long rents but the average daily rate should be around 300/400P depending on the motorbike settings (automatic, manual, power, etc). Don't forget to use the helmet (otherwise you can get a fine by the police)!
